Patriotic Lapel Pins

January 22, 2012

Patriotic Lapel Pins.

Somehow, I suspect that our most corrupt politicians display patriotic lapel pins most often.  They know that when it comes to patriotism, Americans are easily persuaded. Patriotism is the Achilles heel of their constituents’ analytical reasoning.  Ron Paul appears to be our most thoughtful, patriotic candidate. Yet, he seldom wears a lapel pin.

Internet Censorship Legislation Pending

SOPA & PIPA  explained

SOPA (the “Stop Online Piracy Act”) and PIPA (the “Protect Intellectual Property Act” ) are bills in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, respectively. These bills are presented as efforts to stop copyright infringement committed by foreign web sites, but in our opinion, they do so in a way that would disrupt free expression and harm the Internet. ….

Senate sponsor Patrick Leahy still plans for a PIPA vote on January 24.

SOPA and PIPA are symptoms of a larger issue. They are misguided solutions to a misunderstood problem. In the U.S. and abroad, legislators and big media are embracing censorship and sacrificing civil liberties in their attacks on free knowledge and an open Internet.

The Israel Lobby targets Ron Paul

‘Emergency Committee for Israel’  goes after Ron Paul

The Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI) is a pressure group launched in July 2010 to promote a militarist, “pro-Israel” U.S. agenda. ECI has run attack ads that target politicians deemed “soft” on terrorism and who criticize Israel-centric U.S. policies. It also publishes open letters to political figures and hosts a website that provides information about political races and highlights key issues of concern via-a-vis Israel.

Israel wants War on Iran

January 13, 2012

AIPAC’s “War With Iran” Bill Passes House Committee.

….  the United States Congress, which gets its marching orders on Middle East policy from the lobby which, in turn, gets its marching orders from Binyamin Netanyahu, is rushing to do what it is told. … [ HR 1905  –  Section 601 ]

…. It means that neither the president, the Secretary of State nor any U.S. diplomat or emissary may engage in negotiations or diplomacy with Iran of any kind unless the president convinces the “appropriate Congressional committees” (most significantly, the House Foreign Affairs Committee which is an AIPAC fiefdom) that not engaging with Iranian contacts would present an “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the vital national security interests of the United States.”

To call this unprecedented is an understatement. At no time in our history has the White House or State Department been restricted from dealing with representatives of a foreign state, even in war time. ….

But preventing diplomacy is precisely what Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Howard Berman (D-CA), leaders of the House Foreign Affairs Committee which reported out this bill, seek. They and others who back the measure want another war and the best way to get it is to ban diplomacy (which exists, of course, to prevent war). ….

Wierd Orthodox Judaism

January 1, 2012

Orthodox Judaism treats women like filthy little things.

…. A daughter, commanded the sages, must not be taught Torah, because “the mind of woman is not suited to be taught, but [only] to words of nonsense.” Women are light-minded and have little knowledge.

And if a man and a woman are drowning in a river, first they’ll save the man ….

A man must say three blessings every day during morning prayers: He thanks God “that He didn’t make me a gentile, that He didn’t make me a woman, that He didn’t make me an ignoramus.” And it’s not proper to speak to a woman too much, since “all her conversation is nothing but words of adultery,” and whoever talks to her too much “causes evil to himself and will end up inheriting hell.” And let’s not even talk about the fate of someone “who looks even at a woman’s little finger.” ….

And needless to say, she is at her husband’s disposal whenever he is overcome by a desire “to satisfy his urges with her.” And if she continues to rebel, he always has the right “to divorce her without her consent.” …
